Blog Special 20 years: the evolution of the Calimacil website!

Welcome to the first blog to retrace the history of Calimacil over the last 20 years!

If you've been following us for any number of years now, you'll be aware that Calimacil has always wanted to innovate, in every field! It was with this vision that we launched our first e-commerce site back in 2004, so that we could provide you with Calimacil equipment wherever you are!

Let's go back in time together to discover the major developments of the Calimacil website from 2004 to 2024!

2004 - 2005

Here it is, the very first Calimacil website! Simple in design and architecture, its main objective was to present the company, its products and the development of weapons!

Our catalog was nowhere near as complete as it is today, but it was still possible to place orders by contacting info@calimacil.com! It was the start of a great adventure, and our website was about to undergo many changes!

2006 - 2007

The 1st major update of the Calimacil website took place in 2006! The site's design was completely revamped to offer a more modern site with more personality!

New features include the disappearance of the left-hand menu, which is now accessible from the top of the page! The addition of the "News" section will give birth to the blog you're currently on, and the "FAQ" section will answer all your questions about Calimacil products!

Of course, you'll also find the company presentation and the product page with a new design, which now allows you to click on a product to see a detailed description!

Last but not least, the addition of online payment! It was now possible to add products to the shopping cart and proceed to checkout! Laughable as it may seem today, this addition has enabled Calimacil to set itself apart from its competitors and bring it to the level it is today!

2008 - 2009

2008 sees the publication of a new version of the Calimacil website!

With the development of our inventory and the creation of collections, the menus have been expanded to make the site easier to navigate!

The appearance of customer reviews, Calimacil guarantees and the first GN affiliates are the main new features of this version of the site!

Product pages have also been redesigned to provide product specifications for variants (daggers, shortsword, longsword...).

2010 - 2011

Here we are in 2010, 6 years after the launch of the very first Calimacil website!

Few changes are to be noted on this version, the product page has been redesigned once again with a view to improving the user experience on the Calimacil site and making it easier to find what you're looking for.

As of July 1, 2010, 45 weapons were available on the Calimacil site - sounds unreal, doesn't it?

2012 - 2014

Here we are in 2012, and Calimacil continues to modernize its website!

With this new version, the site is more readable, with a design that's beginning to resemble Calimacil's final visual identity!

A brand new presentation of weapons, pages, better organization of menus, the boom in online sales has pushed Calimacil to invest to always offer an incredible online experience!

2015 - 2018

2015 marks the arrival of a tool that has set us apart from all the LARP manufacturers in the world, even today!

You love it and don't fail to let us know, we're talking of course about the custom sword builder! Yes, it's been almost 10 years since you've been able to create unique weapons on Calimacil!

Also, the construction of this version will serve as a solid base for future updates, and it's not surprising to find certain similarities between our current site and the 2015 version!

2019 - 2021

And we've almost reached the end of our retrospective! Since 2019, our website has remained pretty much the same!

There have been a few notable changes, but it's clear that we've found an architecture that's functional, modern and aesthetically pleasing!

From now on, we'll be focusing mainly on the Calimacil tools, always with the desire to innovate and go even further!

2022 - ?

You recognize him! It's with you every day as you search for the best LARP equipment!

A better user experience, an incredible design, constant new features, this version of the Calimacil site will continue to evolve and surprise you, taking your online GN experience to the next level!
