The dragons of Komodo are usually hunting small mammals and measure only between two and three meters. However, the one that Varan faced following his shipwreck measured at least seven meters of length and clearly wanted to make of him its breakfast. Without his axe, he would have been a dead sailor. What happened next changes from one tavern to another. Some sailors say that he wounded the monster leg and that he escaped while others are saying that he was swallowed by the monster and that he cut himself out through the belly. The truth undoubtedly sunk itself within a glass of alcohol.
