A
Axe : A tool made of a metal blade (usually steel) attached to a wooden handle. It is most often used to cut wood but was also used as a weapon.

Bastard (Bastard sword):The hand-and-a-half or bastard sword. During the entire Middle Ages, the sword remained the knight’s main weapon. During that period, certain modifications were made to its form and function.
Bec De Corbin : This weapon is like a giant can opener. The head consists on one side of a hammer and on the other a curved solid tip, resembling a crow’s beak. The user can either hit with the hammer, causing blunt damage, or with the tip for piercing damage. The tip is used mainly to pierce armours and only half of the protection for piercing blows to resolve the destruction caused by the tip. The bec de corbin is used with one hand and be used on horseback.
Blade of the sword : More than 30 cm long, it often has two cutting edges. The thinnest first third from the tip is the weakest and the last third, the thickest, is the strongest.

Claymore : A large, wide two-handed sword that is easily recognizable and was used by the Highlanders (Scottish warriors). Appearing in the XVIth century and widely used in that period, it measured about 1.35 metres long (1.05-metre blade and 30-cm handle). The handle consists of two long arms often ending in quatrefoils.
Crossguard : Protects the hand and can be made either of two quillons perpendicular to the swords body forming the shape of a cross, a shell generally in a half-sphere that covers the hand, or both. There can also be a capuce, a loop that connects the shell to the pommel. The cross-guard can be made of decorative shapes such as encrusted diamonds, colours, etc.

Espadon : The espadon (spadone, grande épée in French, two-handed and zweihänder in German) is a sword handled with both hands. It was developed in Italy and used from the XVth to the XVIIth centuries, mainly in Switzerland and in Germany. It has a ricasso and quillons.

Flail : A blunt, edged weapon used in Europe in the Middle Ages. Although this name refers to a specific object, many inaccuracies were perpetuated over time to lead to a confusion with similar weapons.
Flamberge : A waved-blade version that adds a psychological impact, reduces performance and supposedly causes vibration in the adversary’s weapon. It was especially used to move aside lances and picks from a fighting line in order to part the way.
Foam-injected weapon : It is incorrect to use the term foam-injected to describe Calimacil foam weapons. Use instead the term Calimacil foam.
Foam sword: See foam weapon.
Foam weapon: A weapon used by LARP (live action role play) enthusiasts. The term Calimacil foam must be used when referring to Calimacil brand foam swords and not injected foam. The term foam describes the material used in the manufacturing of these LARP weapons.

Gladius : Short sword with a symmetrical blade and cross-guard used by Roman legionaries, and later on, by high dignitaries in the 19th century.

Jian : A light, Chinese sword used mainly in the practice of Tai Chi.

Katana : A symbol of the samurai caste, the katana is a sabre (a curved, bladed weapon with one cutting edge) that is more than 60 cm long. It is worn on the belt, with the cutting edge facing up. Worn with a wakizashi, if forms the Daisho.
Kriss : The Kriss or Kris (or keris, Javanese and Malaysian word), is a ceremonial bladed weapon characteristic of Indonesia and Malaysia. It is also found in the southern Philippines.

LARP Axe : LARP weapon in the shape of an axe.
LARP (Live Action Role Play weapon) : A weapon used by LARP (live action role play) enthusiasts. These weapons can be made of foam, latex or Calimacil foam. Several players also make their own weapons.

Mace : A weapon made up of a large mace attached to the end of a stick that is somewhat long. A cousin of the club and derived from the sledgehammer, this was one of the first weapons used by humanity.

Pole weapon :A weapon composed of a blade or a metal tip attached to a long handle, generally made of wood, called a shaft. It is used for close combat, mainly by lancers. The most popular is the lance, which, despite its name, is not thrown (as opposed to the javelin, for example, which is thrown).
Pommel :The extremity of the sword closest to the fencer. By balancing the blade, this is, above all, a counterweight that allows the wrist to be less tired.

Tang of the sword : Composed of the handle, the part that is held and wound with silk and that is the extension of the blade to the pommel.
Tanto : The tanto is a slightly curved Japanese sabre with one cutting edge whose size is less than 30 cm. The structure of the tanto is generally similar to that of the katana, with the only difference being that it is much shorter and less curved. In general, it is a hira-zukuri type (flat).
Tuck : A blow to the sword’s axis to pierce the adversary.

Wakizashi : A Japanese sabre with a curve similar to that of the katana, but smaller, and whose size is between 30 and 60 cm. It can be worn with a katana, slid into the belt, in which case is called “daisho”. The rich merchants who could not wear the katana were allowed to wear the wakizashi.
War hammer : An offensive weapon used in the Middle Ages against armours. Designed for close combat, it resembles the hammer with its shape. The handle could be different lengths.
