Gladius, The Sword of Pompeii

Legend
The Gladius (Swords in Latin) was the sword used by the Romans between the 4th Century B.C. and the 2nd century of our era. The historical length of the weapon was between 64 and 81cm. The roman sword was usually decorated with the imperial eagle or with Remus and Romulus nursed by the she-wolf (according to the Roman myth about the foundation of Rome). Several specimens of gladius were found in the town of Pompeii, devastated by a volcanic eruption.
